Footsteps will be making a contribution to this street iftar organised by mosques in Balsall Heath. People of all faiths & none are invited to share in breaking the day’s fast at this community event during Ramadan.
This year the mosques and partner organisations have given the iftar an environment theme ‘Our Common Home’:
“With the holy month of Ramadan starting in early May, preparations are in full swing to make all necessary arrangements to provide food for Iftar. Unfortunately, Muslims generate huge quantities of food and waste which increases substantially during the month of Ramadan.
This year’s environmentally friendly themed Unity/Street Iftar is a great way of highlighting these problems to a large number of people. At the same time showing people viable alternatives and how they can make a positive difference be reducing waste they generate in their own lives.”
Organised by a coalition of Fulham Road Mosque, Sparkbrook Islamic Centre, Clifton Road Mosque, Bahu Trust and Mela.
