GrassRoutes

GrassRoutes is about grassroots faith groups taking eco-action together, on a route to a low-carbon future.

GrassRoutes will link the role that many places of worship play in their local communities with the need to take urgent action to address the environmental and climate crisis we face. This new project will be working with and supporting faith-led eco-action projects.

Our Eco-Action Projects will build the capacity of faith groups to lead, advocate for and engage in, community-led climate action in Birmingham.  They are central to the Birmingham Faith Climate Action Partnership.

We can support a wide range of new eco-action initiatives, including those related to saving energy, green skills, accessing parks and open spaces, food and healthy eating and sustainable transport.

Eco-action projects should, ideally, have a clear link with faith values and teachings.  Projects that empower local communities and involve young people, women or minority groups are particularly welcome.

We can support with

  • Assistance to develop your proposal;
  • Funding in the range of £3-5000, or possibly more;
  • Friendly, knowledgeable, tailored mentoring help.

We want to work together with you to establish projects that will benefit your local community, strengthen the faith voice, and engage with the Council and other authorities in creating change.

The Birmingham Faith Climate Action community launch took place at Hodge Hill Church Saturday 9 November 2024.  At this multi-faith festival for local eco-action we shared information about support for new faith-led eco-action projects.

GrassRoutes is a project of BiFCAP – a collaboration between Bahu Trust, Footsteps and climate solutions charity Ashden. Funded by Esmee Fairbairn.
