Footsteps members joined the Green Lane Masjid’s community Iftar on Tuesday evening with representatives from Canal and Rivers Trust, Mind, Councillors John Cotton and John O’Shea and other groups.
We learned about the significance of Ramadan, the Masjid’s extensive community work, were shown the amazing conversion of the old Grade 2 listed public library and swimming pool into the a mosque and community centre. We broke the fast with our Muslim friends and then shared a splendid dinner.
Many thanks to the the Mosque for an informative and enjoyable evening.
There are still some community iftars planned in other parts of Birmingham in the coming weeks, a recent article in the Birmingham Mail gives details, along with an introduction to what an iftar is.
