One of our regular walks to connect with nature on our doorstep, and learn about local environmental initiatives. Open to people of all faiths and none.

This time we will be enjoying a walk in the evening sunshine (hopefully!) along the canals in Digbeth, to learn about the Growing Project run by Grand Union art gallery:
“Through our community-led growing scheme The Growing Project, we collaborate with several local Birmingham and Digbeth based organisations who support the vulnerably-housed and people in crisis. The Growing Project aims to ‘Green-Sense’ the city, improve sites across Birmingham by growing food and creating green spaces, places that are developed, tended and nurtured by homeless people.”
We will also hear about some of the industrial heritage of the area.
Meet outside the gallery at Minerva Works from 6pm, we will set off shortly after 6 for a leisurely walk along even ground (there may be some cobbled paving and canal bridges that we have to cross) before returning to the gallery for light refreshments at 7:30pm.
This event is free, but please register to help us plan for numbers:

Sustainable travel to Minerva Works:
Minerva Works is a 15 minute walk from Moor St, or 20 minutes from New St. Getting a bus into Digbeth itself is not recommended due to the major roadworks on Digbeth High St, but if you do need to, alight at the Coach Station and walk up Milk St.
If you are cycling along the canal, come off at the Typhoo junction onto Fazeley St.
If you need to drive, there are some available free parking spaces at Minerva Works. If full, there is a paying car park opposite, and free parking on-street around Digbeth after 6pm.
