Join us for this series of four sessions of presentations and discussions on Earth in Crisis: our Climate Challenge.

Hosted by St Francis Church, with Footsteps, Churches Together in B30 and BACA (Birmingham Anglican Climate Action).

Our International Environmental Framework

Climate change is a global issue that calls for action at the international level. But who takes that action? And how it is achieved? And how is it enforced?

Jo Welsh will set out the context in which international environmental action takes place and consider the main aims and mechanisms of the Paris Agreement. She’ll also outline some of the steps that States, including the UK, are taking to comply with their international obligations.

Jo is a solicitor in the Environment Agency’s Climate Change Team, where she advises in relation to the UK Emissions Trading Scheme, the international aviation emissions reduction scheme (CORSIA), the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. She has a particular interest in international law, having studied Public International Law at Universiteit Utrecht and worked at the International Court of Justice.
