Last Sunday people from a range of faiths joined our foraging walk along the River Cole.
Rob, a local pagan and member Footsteps, led the group in searching for edible plants currently in season. He explained how to enjoy the food that nature provides safely, and introduced the group to the significance of foraging for pagans. It was also an opportunity to connect with the local environment, and provided a reminder of why Footsteps promotes action to sustain nature.
Participants said:
“I really enjoyed visiting a part of Birmingham I’d not visited before & spending a beautiful afternoon with others, learning about different plants.”
“We had a great time and my son loved it (although he now seems to stick anything Green into his mouth!)”
We hope to hold another foraging walk in Spring 2018, to explore natural foods that are in season at that time: watch this space for further details.
