The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) holds regular ‘Greener forums’ open to communities in the region, and in June the focus will be on faith communities.

The forum will be

  • looking closer at the West Midlands environmental targets;
  • discussing the role of faith in contributing towards climate action;
  • community retrofit and its opportunities;
  • delving into panel discussions with young people of faith.

This is a fantastic opportunity for faith and environmental groups to come together to expand their network of contacts.

Draft Agenda:

  • Kamran Shezad to Chair – Welcome to the Forum and the role of faith in contributing towards Net Zero and biodiversity targets in Birmingham.
  • Jackie Homan – West Midlands region environmental targets
  • Dan Gregory – Retrofit Opportunities from Birmingham City Council. Energy funding for retrofit, how best to utilise faith communities.
  • Shaheen Ahmed – Balsall Heath Nature Map, faith inspired nature mapping of Balsall Heath, celebrating urban biodiversity.
  • Chris Martin – Birmingham Faith Climate Action Partnership – To build the capacity of faith groups, to lead, and engage in community led climate action in disadvantaged areas of Birmingham and to share the learning more widely. A partnership project by Bahu Trust, Footsteps and Ashden.
  • Panel event with young people of faith (3 young people) – How do you feel faith supports young people with climate action?
