Footsteps is supporting this event led by Ride for Their Lives, an “international collaboration of healthcare providers riding together to explore the actions we must take to protect the planet for our patients and children.”

Birmingham will welcome the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health to their annual conference in Birmingham in March 2024. There will be more than 1000 delegates present. Many of our children live in poor circumstances in an environment that creates a lifelong trajectory of poor health. They are denied the basic human rights of being able to be physically active and to breath clean air. This needs to change.

We will mark the Conference and their demand for child health to improve – with communities, sports and biking clubs getting on their bikes in and around our city on Sunday the 24th of March.

Cyclists will gather in the city centre between 2pm and 2.30pm to then ride a short loop led by children finishing in Centenary Square at 3.00pm where there will be a brief address from Camilla Kingdom, the President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

The meeting point for those cycling is Grosvener St West (off Sheepcote St, which is near Broad St).  Skateboards, roller skates, wheelchairs and walkers are all welcome too.

For those coming from south Birmingham, there is  an alternative meeting point outside the MAC at Cannon Hill Park leaving at 1:30pm, organised by Ecobirmingham.
