On Sunday 24th August, families and community members came together to share a fun, creative afternoon, exploring how the Sun helps sustain us all.

Families from Ward End joined Footsteps and members of the local Hay Mills community at St Cyprian’s Church, to create a collage mural. Our artists facilitators Fran & Rajan, took us through different ways the Sun supports life: food, plant-life, energy, faith and more. Participants spent the afternoon creating art works to reflect their thoughts and ideas on this theme, which were then brought together in a vibrant work of art.

Fanniza Begum, Birmingham Community Support C.I.C, said:
“Mums and children visited a different ward for the first time and took part in creating an art collage mural. The event created an uplifting spirit of unity and collaboration, showing the value of working together across all walks of life and faith. Parents described it as inspiring and said they hope to see more events like this.”
Chris Martin, Footsteps said:
“I found the afternoon a very uplifting experience amongst the divisive and toxic times we are in – it is an important role for Footsteps to demonstrate how we can work together in Birmingham on climate and ecological concerns.”
