SUMMARY:Summer Faith Walk 2021
DESCRIPTION:Our annual walk\, to connect with our local environment\, and l
 earn about local faith &amp\; low-carbon initiatives.  All welcome - regi
 stration is now open.\n\nThis year we will be visiting Uplands Allotments 
 in Handsworth to learn about growing sustainable food\, and the role of be
 es.\n\nAllotment committee member Malcolm Currie will walk us round part o
 f the site – the ground is rough in places\, and gently sloping. We will
  have the chance to chat to a few plot holders and hear about the issues f
 acing them due to climate change and how they try to protect the natural e
 nvironment e.g. by conserving water and not using harmful chemicals. It wi
 ll include a visit to the bee hives\, owned by Malcolm’s wife\, Balbir C
 urrie.\n\nWe will finish with a cup of tea outside (weather permitting). P
 lease bring biscuits or cake to share if you can.\n\nChildren are welcome 
 and are the responsibility of parents or carers.\n\nThis event is free\, p

  from city centre – Colmore Row\, to Oxhill Rd (almost the terminus).\n 
 	Cycle: follow NCR 5 along the canal\, exit at Rabone Lane in Winson Green
 \, then head North - the allotments are around 10 mins cycle.\n 	Parking: 
 available on site.\n\nToilets: available in clubhouse on site.\n\nAccess: 
 Part of the route through the site is tarmac and therefore accessible to w
 heelchair users. Other parts are rough but accessible by car.\n\nPhoto: la
