Footsteps – which is also Friends of the Earth (FoE) local action group – was at the West Midlands FoE Summer Action Gathering recently, where local Friends of Earth groups and action groups across the West Midlands came together for a social and to hear what each group has been working on.
John explained how Footsteps represents the main faith communities in Birmingham including the Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu and Buddhist communities – all of which have teachings that are very much in favour of the environment. Footsteps supports and encourages these communities to make their faith buildings more sustainable, and also to help individuals save energy in their homes.
Listen to John (Footsteps) explaining to Libby (Birmingham FoE) about Footsteps’ involvement in the BrumEnergy collaboration and the new Birmingham Faith Climate Action Partnership:
John concluded by saying how helpful he had found Friends of Earth’s analysis of the different party’s manifestos for the general election – this had provided some really good talking points to raise with to our MPs and encourage people in the new government to work on.
